First, it is very interesting to look back (as you suggested we do) to a year ago. I reported that our temperature was -1C and the total snow depth was 280mm on 2 Jan 2011. Today, 3 January 2012 and our temperature is very much colder, at -32C. In Fairbanks, where the cold air tends to sink to the bottom of the valley, the temperature is much colder at -40C. Our total snow depth is 370mm. The sun rose today at 1055 am and will set at 258 pm, giving us 4 hours and 3 minutes of total daylength. Solar noon was at 1256 pm - very close to the time I took the photos. The best news is that today's length of daylight is 4 minutes longer than yesterday. Hooray!
