Well, our September this year was very different than last year! We lost most of our leaves by mid-month after a first frost on 3 Sep. We then had a sprinkling of snow on 24 Sep - right after I had finished digging potatoes, carrots and beets and spread compost and officially closed up the garden for the season. The snow melted within a day but then more snow came on 30 Sep. This time I think the snow is staying.
I flew up to Prudhoe Bay on 26 Sep to help Bill winterize and close up the boats for the winter. We drove down the Dalton Highway the next day in clear blue skies the whole way. So glad we made it home when we did because within a few days the weather changed dramatically! We put snow tires on our cars 2 days ago and I noticed that last year we didn't put snow tires on until 2 November! Yes, our weather is very different this year!
The temperature was 0C when I took these images, at 12:30 pm. As you can see there is some snow on the ground but it is "spotty" so I didn't include a depth.
