These pictures were taken very close to solar noon, which now that Daylight Savings has ended, is at the more reasonable time of 12:36 pm. The temperature was -11°C and I measured the snow depth as an average of 80 mm. I had to take several measurements since the depth of the snow is so variable. Of the 8 measurements I took, one was close to 40 mm and and the others were much higher near 100 mm. I think this is because we had some icing last month when it snowed in the evening and then warmed up during the day so there was melting and then freezing at night. I know we had some wind and now fell from branches, as well, and that probably influenced the depth of snow near my site.
Our days are much shorter now. The sun rose yesterday at 8:45 am and set at 4:27 pm for a total day length of 7 hours and 42 minutes. Winter Solstice is only 7 weeks away and we will continue to see a dramatic decrease in day length during that time.
