As you can see, our leaves are starting to turn color. And many have dropped from the limbs, as well. We have not yet had freezing temperatures but it regularly gets down to 4 C at night. The days have been lovely - partly sunny and up to about 18 C during the day. But of course our days are getting shorter and we are losing about 7 minutes of daylight each day. The sun rose today at 639 am and will set at 904 pm for 14 hours and 25 minutes of daylight (if my math is correct). The Autumnal equinox is only 3 weeks away so it won't be long before we have longer nights than days! As you can see, our solar noon is quite skewed from actual noon: it is at 1:51 pm. Almost 2 pm! That is partly due to Daylight Savings Time. But also it is due to Alaska's artificially large time zone.
