The ice went out on the Ottawa River near the end of February when we got some rain. Then, temperatures have fallen again to record lows. This has been the coldest winter in this area since 1977/78. Many places have broken record snow amounts as well. We hit -12 F (-22C) on Monday at my house. The ice has started to form on the Ottawa River again. We are forecast to have 5 warmer days and then another cold outbreak. This next one probably won't be nearly as cold. You may have seen that the Great Lakes are over 90% ice covered. That is really unusual.
