You will see that the river was ice free in early February. But, it got cold again and we had ice cover by mid February. This winter had average temperatures but that came from very low temperatures for a couple weeks broken up by a couple days over very above average temperatures. This March has been very cold. You probably heard of the snow in the eastern US. We haven't had a lot of snow but the grass is very brown from the cold temperatures.
