Here in Stavern the storm has reach the speed of 25 m/s but that is nothing
compared to other areas. The ferry to Denmark has been moored in Larvik for
many days. Many covers of the boats on shore have blown off and some trees
have fallen. The forecast for tomorrow is rain and wind from southeast with
speed up to 22 m/s. Wind from southeast can cause trouble for us because
the waves will hit the eastern shore and last time, a couple of weeks ago,
one of the houses close to the shore was hit by a huge wave and got water
into the livingrom. Stones like big cabbages were spread around in front of
the house and 30 m of their fence dissappeared. The lady of the house was
thinking of a tsunami.
I have seen snow in the area once and just some few mm. I don't think we
have any frost in the ground yet. My lawn is still nice and green and some
of our roses are still blooming. When I think of last year we got the snow
and the cold in the middle of October and it lasted until March. I think
it's sad for the children not to have the snow to play in. Last year we had
ice in the harbour causing damages to the quays. But as you can see on the
picture for January it looks like late March.
