June started as May ended with rather high temperatures but it calmed down after a couple of days. An average temp of 17 degrees with max on the third of July with 27.2 and min 10.2 on the 13th during the night. The amount of rain was 46,0 mm. I think this is quite normal.
We spent 9 days in the north and returned on the 30th. This time we had to stay in our cottage and we don't know if it's the chageing of the climate that bring some new insects species to the north. Last year and this year the birch trees were loaded with larvae from the winter moth Operophtera brumata. They are eating the leaves of the trees. After some years with attacks the trees will die. Large areas of the birch forest in the valley are already dead. At least four trees around the cottage have lost all their leaves. The university of Tromso is really concerned.
