The day when the picture was taken was a day after a heavy northerly wind
which prevailed a couple of days. The picture was taken about 5 pm and the
temperature was a round 15 °C. If you look carefully you can see some
redish vegetation (probably Potamogeton) in the lake where from the lake
got its name. The snow has nearly all melted in the mountains. The lupine
in the front has lost its blue beautiful colour and is begining to make
seed.
You can also see that they are building some blocks in the neighborhood at
the right in the picture. The weels are begining to turn again in Iceland
and people are buying cars, building houses and hydropower stations.
