This graphic shows the Earth's postition on its orbit around the sun on August 1st. After about 80 days with little change in daylength there will be more evidence of our continuous flight around our star: In Central Europe sunrise will be 44min later and sunset even 54min earlier, so daylength will decrease by 1h 38min in August (some plants will already show a response to this seasonal change) due to the change in the sun's seeming orbit: It will seemingly move 10° south in August which also means that sunrise and sunset is significantly more to the south (northern hemisphere) / to the north (southern hemisphere). (The sunlight's angle of entry at noon will change by almost 10° everywhere on Earth in August.) Next month we will already reach the Equinox point with 12h day / 12h night, where / when the difference from day to day is at the maximum and we fly into the colder (northern) / warmer (southern hemisphere) half-year.
